Well written short essay to the question.
Read the following excerpt:King of England, if you do not do these things, I am the commander of the military; and in whatever place I shall find your men in France, I will make them flee the country, whether they wish to or not; and if they will not obey, the Maid will have them all killed. She comes sent by the King of Heaven, body for body, to take you out of France, and the Maid promises and certifies to you that if you do not leave France she and her troops will raise a mighty outcry as has not been heard in France in a thousand years. And believe that the King of Heaven has sent her so much power that you will not be able to harm her or her brave army.-Joan of Arc, Letter to the King of EnglandThen, using it as a source, answer the following question:What factors transformed European societies between 1200 and 1500?

After our first midterm, we’ve explored the concept of biological determinism/essentialism in relation to a series of social identities, categories, and experiences. LACCD Constitutional Qualifications for The Office of The USA President Essay
The essay portion must be a minimum of 650 wordsDo not include the research portion (other countries’ requirements) in the word countYou must give your paper a titleFor this assignment, you must answer this question: Are the constitutional qualifications sufficient for the office of the United States president? There are two positions to choose from here: YES or NO. There are no other choices. There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answer here. Your score fully depends on how effectively you argue. Before you pick a side and write your persuasive essay:first, you must list the Constitutional requirements for the office of U.S. presidentsecond, you must list five countries and then list what the requirements are for their heads of state. This will give you an idea of how the United States compares to other countries regarding what a potential leader is expected to bring to the office. Pick countries in which people vote for their leaders. They can be presidents or prime ministers. Now you’re ready to for the next section of your homework. If you pick ‘YES’ that the qualifications for the U.S. president are sufficient, then you must explain why each is sufficient. You must make a strong and persuasive argument in support of your position on why they should be kept as they are. You must also present the counter-argument. That is, in defending your choice you must address the weaknesses of the existing qualifications. You must thoroughly justify the keeping of the current constitutional requirements. Do not say dumb things like: they should be kept because they’re perfect just the way they are. This will get you a score of zero. Do not even use the word ‘perfect’ in your essay. In detail, you must explain the rationale for why the qualifications for the most powerful human on earth should remain unchanged. If you pick ‘NO’ that the qualifications are not sufficient, then you must explain why they are not sufficient. You must make a strong and persuasive argument in support of your position on why they should change. And then you need to list the changes that you would make. You may change one or all of the qualifications, but you must argue rationally and persuasively. Do not say dumb things like they should change because they’re ridiculous. This will get you a score of zero. In detail, you must explain the rationale for why the qualifications for the most powerful human on earth should be changed.

Los Angeles Southwest College Hegels History of Consciousness Discussion
A- “[I] freed my mind of all cares, secured for myself a period of leisurely tranquility, and am withdrawing into solitude.” (Descartes, Meditations on First Philosophy)Discussion Question (Journal Prompt):A proper philosophical place is always hard-won. An environment that is conducive to philosophical reflection must be actively produced, that is, one cannot passively enter a space and engage in critical philosophical reflection. Meditating with Descartes, describe the different sites/environments your body moves through and how you engineer these various settings to allow for philosophical contemplation and the production of knowledge. B - Hegel's History of ConsciousnessFor Hegel, it turns out that the servile consciousness of the bondsman is “the truth of independent consciousness.” One of the more ambiguous components of Hegel’s philosophy is the role servitude plays in the development of consciousness. For some philosophers the full development of consciousness requires a period of real servitude to a master much greater than oneself. While other thinkers believe that one can merely engage in a form of labor outside of the master/slave dynamic and still fully develop one’s consciousness. Why does servitude ultimately reverse itself? What is the effect of work on your present state of consciousness? I would like you to take a moment to reflect on your present-self, the type of work you are currently doing, and how your current work is preparing your future-self for the work that is ahead.C -: Marx, Estranged (Alienated) LaborAuthentic Production:an affirmation of the true-Selfgenerates feelings of happiness and contentmentallows one to develop his/her physical and mental energyone feels at ease and at home at workwork is voluntary, in that, it is one’s choice to do that workthe work is an end in itself, not merely a means to some other endwhen one’s work is done, he/she will be eager to get back to workQUESTION:Describe your understanding of Marx’s concept of authentic production? What does authentic production mean to you and what kind of work do you see yourself doing two years from now, five years from now?D - Davis / DouglassWhy turn to Douglass? Why do we see thinkers generation after generation turn to the Douglass Narrative? What is it that we find in the Douglass Narrative that we don’t find in other works?E - Douglass's EthosEthos: Character Molding / HabituationWhat I would like you to be sensitive to while reading the Douglass Narrative is his ethos, i.e., his character and spirit; his ability to persevere, and his hunger for knowledge. Here, think about the dialectic as a method of division: dividing a confused Self into clear lines of descent and ascent. What characteristics, qualities, and attributes do you see in Douglass that you yourself would like to possess or do possess? We can learn much from Douglass’s work ethic and temperament.QUESTION Is there such a thing as a substantial external model? Must each individual ultimately generate their own conception of a good life? What has the Douglass Narrative revealed to you in regard to a proper way of living?F- Consciousness “You don't have to rely on anything but your own cognitive faculties to understand your situation.” Consciousness is not an all or nothing thing: consciousness necessarily unfolds, necessarily develops, necessarily progresses through stages. Each moment of consciousness is equally important. In this course we’ve took a look at multiple readings revolving around the development of consciousness. You were also asked to shed a dialogical light upon your own lived experience in order to develop an understanding of The History of Consciousness.QUESTION (JOURNAL PROMPT):Which reading and approach to consciousness resonated with you the most? (MLK, Plato, Descartes, Hegel, Marx, Douglass)I would like to encourage you to be creative and to blend the different approaches to understanding the development of consciousness. What is your own understanding of the nature of consciousness and its development?
