Set Theory Discussion Post
Hello,I struggle with Math and haven't taken a Math class in over 8 years. I have to describe how set theory applies to my life and career but I do not understand set theory. I am in the military so don't know how I can relate it to my job. Here is the discussion question:Set theory is used in a wide range of applications, from everyday life to advanced research in science and medicine. For our everyday use, set theory can be applied to areas like organizational tasks. For example, a retail business may use sets and subsets to make stores easier to navigate by grouping similar items together. The recommended readings in this module present applications of set theory to computer science and medical research. Boicea, Truică, Rădulescu, and Buşe (2018) discuss how concepts like set operations can be used to compare sampling algorithms, while in the second recommended reading the authors work with Venn's diagrams in the diagnosis of pleural tuberculosis. In 200-300 words describe how in detail an application of set theory that is familiar to you. Explain why this use of sets, subsets, set operations, or Venn’s diagrams is relevant in your life or for society in general. I attached required readings/references. Please use an additional scholarly reference to support response. Please respond within 3 hours. Thank you!

MTH 245 George Mason High School Exploratory Data Analysis Project
Purpose:
This project is to help you apply concepts to real world, real data analysis. In the real-world computers do most of the hard work for statisticians. This project will help you understand how an informative decision is made using data analysis. After completing this project, you should be able to determine which statistical procedures are appropriate; use StatCrunch to carry out the procedures and interpret the output
The Database of UVA (Excel file) students contains information on the undergraduate students at University of Virginia. This list contains the data for different Qualitative and Quantitative variable. Your project is to obtain the results based on the following questions using StatCrunch. Copy the StatCrunch results (graph plus answer) into summary document using the guidelines in section C.
Directions:
Do all of the work below with the Database of MATH ACT SCORES Download MATH ACT SCORES
Data: The Data set is on the project page on canvas(MATH ACT SCORES). Use StatCrunch to obtain results for the following questions.
A) Exploratory Data Analysis
Obtain the mean and standard deviation for ACT Math scores for each class level (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors) and interpret the results
Obtain the five number summary of ACT Math score for each class levels. Do any of these class levels have outliers?
Construct a boxplot and use it to investigate the data for outliers
Construct a histogram, and normal probability plot (QQ Plot) for ACT Math score for each class level.
B) Inferential Statistics
Construct and interpret a 95% confidence interval for µ, for the mean ACT Math score for each class level.
Using regression analysis (hint, use scatter plot, r, r2 ) , investigate if there is a relationship between Age and performance in ACT Math score.; . provide an equation can be used to predict ACT math score based on age,
Write a Summary and Findings of the Project
C) Write-up
Write a brief introduction of the project.
o Interpret the mean, and standard deviation in context of the data given.
o Compare the measures of center and comment on which measure of center would best describe the data given.
o Comment on the shape of the distribution, which class level appears to be more approximately normal
o Are there any outliers in the data? Include results of your investigation for outliers. Identify which class level has an outlier
o Comment on your assessment of normality.
o Which test will be most appropriate for the inferential statistics (confidence Interval)? Z-test or t-test? Why?
o Write an interpretation for the confidence interval estimate in context of the data.
o State the summary, interpretation and conclusion of your Investigation if there is a relationship between Age and performance in ACT Math score of undergraduate student at UVA.; Provide an equation can be used to predict ACT math score based on age; how reliable would the prediction be?

HLTH501 Liberty Medical Advertising, Reseach Ethics And Terminal Scenario
Discussion Board Question Number 2A fundamental ethical problem in statistics arises in experimentation (i.e., in the context of studies of experimental drugs for treating AIDS). On one side, organizations such as the National Institute of Health insist on randomly assigning treatments such as flipping a coin for each patient to decide which treatment to assign. The advantage of randomized experiments is that they allow reliable conclusions without the need to worry about lurking variables. However, some groups of AIDS patients have opposed randomization, instead making the argument that each patient should be assigned the best available treatment (or to be more precise, whatever treatment is currently believed to be the best). The ethical dilemma is to balance the benefits to the patients in the study (who would like the opportunity to choose among available treatments) with future patients (who would be served by learning as soon as possible about the effectiveness of the competing treatments). The issue is complicated. On one hand, the randomized study is most trustworthy if all the patients in the study participate. If they are not treated respectfully, the patients might go outside the study and try other drugs, which could bias the estimates of treatment effects. On the other hand, the patients might benefit from being in an experimental study. Even if the treatment is randomized, the patients are getting close medical attention from the researchers. Current best practice is to design studies so that all subjects will be expected to benefit in some way, but still keeping the randomized element. For example, a study can compare two potentially beneficial experimental treatments, rather than comparing a treatment to an inert “control.” However, there will always be conflicts of interest between the patients in the study, the scientists conducting it, and the public at large. In your original post, compare and contrast at least two research designs that might be used to research life threatening diseases/disorders. At least one design should present ethical issues and at least one design should minimize potential ethical issues. Provide at least one Scripture passage that supports your ethical perspectives on medical/public health research. Your thread is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday and your two replies are due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday.Discussion Question Number 3Consider the following three scenarios:1.
Suppose you work for an organization that runs tests for
life-threatening diseases and then discusses the results with their
patients. You have just tested a 45 year old male patient, father of
six, and according to the test he is terminally ill. Statistics shows
that the man has seven months to live. 2.
Your 31 year old daughter, who for five years has been underemployed
and unemployed, announces she has secured a stable and high paying job
as Director of Operations for a Colorado Marijuana facility. 3.
You are working for a foreign government that has had a disease
epidemic in a certain region of their country which has led to the
deaths of three million children. The disease is spread by mosquitos,
and the only quick and sure way to stop the epidemic is to spray
Chemical H on the jungle environments where the mosquitos live. Spraying
the chemical will lead to environmental issues for 20 years. Pick
one of the above scenarios and in that context, explain how your
knowledge of biostatistics might inform how you address the situation
and how you might advance a Biblical worldview. Fell free to add details
or assumptions left ambiguous in the prompt. Your thread is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday and your two replies are due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday.
