Description
Write an essay on how one's culture or social status influence's ones behavior.
I have to include quotes from three essays we read in class that I could easily send to you.
These are the essays that need to be quoted. For Thoreau all the citations must be from Paragraph 16 on.

Unintelligent Internal Systems of Reasoning Discussion Paper
Instructions:Write six (and only six) pages on one of the following essay topics. As a general rule, approximately four pages should be careful and sympathetic exposition of the relevant positions or arguments. Approximately two pages, at least, should reflect your critical or reflective engagement with the relevant positions or arguments. Exposition and critical engagement can be intermingled. But, as a rule, first write four pages of exposition. Then write at least two pages of critical discussion. Do not neglect either task; doing both well is essential for the assignment.Use helpful examples and apt quotations. Carefully organize the flow of ideas. Above all, strive for clarity.1. Immediately after Socrates’ leaky jar analogy, Socrates and Callicles disagreeover what makes a person’s life good. Present at least two of Socrates’ arguments against Callicles’ position, being sure to carefully formulate them and situate your reconstruction with reference to the text. Give reasons why you think each argument does or does not succeed. Pose and answer potential objections.2. Using an example, explain why Ryle believes there is a fundamental difference between "knowing how" and "knowing that." Explain Plato's view that moral knowledge is knowledge that. Explain Aristotle's view that moral knowledge is instead a matter of know how. Give reasons for either Plato's or Aristotle's view, considering objections and offering replies.3. Plato and Aristotle accept what Parfit calls an “objective list” view of the good life for a person. Explain that position and explain how both experientialism and desire-based theories differ from it and from each other in view of Parfit’s and Nozick’s discussions. Make a case using one or more examples for one of the views in view of problems you develop for the others.Class reading only

Theory of Counseling
Instructions for the Compare-Contrast Research Paper: For this paper, chose two theories of interest covered in the textbook (Theory and practice of counseling and psychotherapy-Corey 10th edition) and write an essay that compares and contrasts them. For those of you who are new to compare/contrast essays, I offer the following explanation. This type of essay requires that the writer discuss the similarities and differences between two or more phenomena. In this case, you need to discuss for each section noted below (other than the introduction and concluding thoughts) how the theories are similar and how they are different. It is suggested that you organize each section in two subsections that each may contain one or more paragraphs – one subsection describing the similarities and the other describing the differences.Unfortunately, I sometimes receive papers from students who simply describe each theory in each section. That is not a compare/contrast essay and using that approach will result in point deductions. The sections for this paper are as follows, and please use an APA style header for each one. Introduction A brief paragraph introducing the topic you are coveringThe Nature of MaladjustmentTherapeutic GoalsThe Therapist’s Function/RoleDiagnosis and appraisal devicesMajor techniques used in therapyThe Client’s Experience in TherapyMulticultural Strengths/Shortcomings Concluding Thoughts (each of these should be its own paragraph):Summary of your findingsWhat you learned from this exerciseOf the two theories, which one did you identify with most and why Along with your textbook, four (4) empirical studies from peer-reviewed journals for each theory must also be incorporated into your essay. That means you need nine (9) sources total – your textbook and eight (8) empirical studies. It is expected that you will use the our own library system to access the PsychInfo and PsychArticles databases so I can find your articles as needed when grading your paper.Citations and references must be in APA style.Lastly, a title page is expected; however, you do not need to complete an abstract.Excluding the title page and reference page, this paper should be between 6 to 8 pages in length using double line spacing. The grading matrix is as follows: Available Points Mechanics Title page included 5 Writing is well organized and follows a logical sequence 5 Grammar, spelling, and paragraphs are correct 5 APA style is followed 5 Content Introduction 10 The Nature of Maladjustment 20 Therapeutic Goals 20 The Therapist’s Function/Role 20 The Client’s Experience in Therapy 20 Multicultural Strengths/Shortcomings 20 Concluding Thoughts 20 Total Points: 150
