In short, Pearl Harbor was important in getting America involved in WWII because up to that point so far, the war seemed distant to America because nobody had blatantly attacked the United States and the fighting was being done all overseas from us. After Pearl Harbor though, the U.S. then had a reason to enter the fight against the Axis powers and was a turning point in us entering the action.
