Explanation & Answer

The AF has the CCAF (Community College of the Air Force) which is a degree granting program, in which you can earn an AAS in your career field (think votech type school, not a traditional AS). You will earn credis during your tech school, and those combined with more classes will lead you to that AAS.

Now, working with a counselor at the ed office and with the counselor at the college of your choice, they can help figure out how your military training translates into credis for a traditional associates.

You can also take CLEP and DANTES exams free of charge. That you can do while waiting fo permission to begin taking classes.

You cannot use your tuition assistance to take college classes until all initial training is done, so nothing for at least the first year you are in, possibly longer. Also,TA can be denied for negative behaviors, failing PFT, or having a bad EPR. It can also be denied if you are preppng for a deployment or pcs.

Finally, you have to do classes on your time. You will not be given time off from duty to take classes. So plan on no more than 2 classes per term.
