Dissimilarities

Deforestation

1.It is removal, decrease or deterioration of forest cover of an area.

2. Rainfall decreases to only minor extent.

3. Moderation of temperatures is reduced.

4. It leads to soil erosion.

5. Deforestation often causes flash floods.

6. Deforested area can be used variously as cropland, industrial area, residential area, fallow land, etc.

Desertification:

1. It is conversion of former moist and fertile land into arid desert area.

2. Rainfall is less than the potential evaporation.

3. Temperature is either high or low.

4. Desertification is a product of soil erosion.

5. Floods do not occur.

6. Desertified area cannot be put to any use.
