Question Description

A single-phase diode rectifier as shown in Fig 5-20 ( Dr. Mohan's Book,chapter 5), with Vs = 120 V at 60 Hz. Select a value for Ls and Cd such that, THD in the line current is less than 60%, ΔVd is less than 5% of Vd0 . The rectifier is supplying a load of 1kW.

Please number of harmonic order to be 31 while using FFT block in PSCAD

In the report, provide:

  • Value of Cd and Ls selected
  • Numerical value of ΔVd and THD as obtained from the PSCAD simulations.
  • Calculations and assumptions made, if any.
  • Circuit snapshot
  • Output voltage Vd, with clearly showing peak to peak ripple voltage
  • Line current Is, Id and Vs ( input voltage)
  • THD, PF and DPF
