Question Description

I’m trying to study for my course and I need some help to understand this question.

You are now a design consultant working for the architectural firm Dewy, Cheatum, and Howe. You have been hired because of your extensive climate knowledge. Dewy, Cheatum, and Howe is interested in creating climate specific houses. Specifically, the houses will be built in the following locations: Miami, FL; Buffalo, NY; Albuquerque, NM ; San Francisco, CA; Omaha, NE; and Butte, MT.

Your job is to design homes for each location that will incorporate structural aspects to “work with” the climate so as to reduce the environmental footprint of the structures. The house designs
(as in windows (type, number, side of house installed into, etc), ceiling heights, roof types and style, overall style of the home, etc.) are totally up to you.

Further, these houses must be completely green – non will be “on-line” concerning power, water sources, etc. So you have to incorporate into your designs elements that will create a normally functioning home with as little environmental impact as possible, heated/cooled, powered, etc. with entirely renewable energy sources all the while keeping the home from polluting.

Be detailed as to how each home (all should be very different from one another) will look, and function. Further, you must explicitly state how and why these design elements are being
incorporated and how and why they will work with the regional climate.
