Question description

Your mom is driving your family to Palmdale.  About 4 miles after your family left home you started recording some observations to see how fast your mom was driving, and you came up with the table and graph below.


Assuming that your mom is driving at a constant rate (which is impossible in our LA Freeways)...

a) Find your mom's average rate of change: (2 pts)

     "My data shows that my mom was averaging _ miles per minute."

b) Find the function that describes your mom's average driving speed (f(t) = ??). (4 pts)

c) Find how long it took your mom to be 22 miles away from home.  (2 pts)

d) If it took your mom 1 hr to make it to Palmdale, how far is Palmdale from home? (2 pts)

"Finally, because it took my mom 60 min to get there, I know that Palmdale is _ miles away from home."
