Upon initial inspection magic squares appear to be similar to Sudoku puzzles. However, they are different. Can you explain the difference between the two? How are magic squares created?Do you think you can personally create a magic square?
Explanation & Answer
Both involve 9 large squares divided into 9 smaller subsections.
A Sudoku puzzle involves each large square and each column and row having each of the digits 1-9 and only having them once.
However, a magic square can have multiple numbers in the same row or column or box as long as each of the rows and columns and even large diagonals (very top right to very bottom left) have the same sum when adding all the numbers in them together.
Magic squares are created through selecting a sum that you would like all the columns are rows to add up to and working a way to solve them. Many Sudoku puzzles are also magic squares since each column and row always adds up to 45 but only when the diagonals also add up is a Sudoku puzzle actually a magic square.
I think I could probably create a magic square but it would involve a lot of time.
