Description
Explain how a system of equations can
be used to find a flat fee and a perunit rate.
Explanation & Answer
Suppose,
X is the flat fee and Y is per unit rate
lets assume X is your fixed pay, and Y is the overtime amount you get per hour,
so, if a equation say that on working 3 hours extra, earning was 130 and
on working 5 hours extra the earning was 150.
so, the equations will be...
X + 3Y =130
X +5y = 150
if you solve these by elimiantion,
X+3Y - (X+5Y) = 130-150
or, X-X +3Y - 5Y = -20
or, -2Y =-20
or, Y=10
and X+3*10=130
or, X=130-30 = 100
so, the fixed pay is 100 and 10 is per unit rate.
Hope this helps. Please best my answer and message me if you have any doubts :)
