SOC 333 Ashford University CH1 Understanding Research Design and Approaches HW
Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read Chapters 1 and 2 of the course textbook. This discussion will help you think about the varied research approaches and how they can be applied based on certain world views or the nature of the groups you wish to research. By choosing the best approach from the start, researchers are much more likely to get the best results to answer research questions. In your initial post, address the following:
Select a research topic that interests you and also is an important social problem. Then, use the four combinations of worldviews, designs, and research methods in Figure 1.1 of Chapter 1 of the course text to discuss a project involving your selected research topic that brings together worldview, designs, and methods. Identify whether this would involve quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods research.
Using the research project you have described above, state the essence of this study in one sentence and then write your research title. By doing this, you focus on the key elements of the study.
Explain the key elements of your proposed study: What is the social problem? Which identity group in society is most affected by this social problem? Is there a particular place or other unique aspect which is important to note about your study?
Next, list three keywords related to your topic and use these keywords to do a database search for journal articles on the topic in the Ashford University Library. Indicate the three keywords in your post and list an example of a journal article found for each key word. (Note: Each journal article found must be listed in APA format.) Indicate if you needed to adjust your keywords in order to locate appropriate journal articles for your study, and explain that process.
Your initial post should be at least 550 words in length. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references.Guided Response: Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7. In your responses, be sure to note any interesting aspects of their response, such as their worldview, social research topic and research methodology chosen. Your responses should be at least 200 words in length.

The Allberry text proposes that the Holy Trinity is the ultimate foundation and source for our understanding of the true the good and beautiful
1. The Allberry text
proposes that the Holy Trinity is the ultimate foundation and source for our
understanding of the true, the good, and beautiful. For this question, describe
the nature of the Holy Trinity and explain how this Biblical doctrine (the
doctrine of the Trinity) helps us to understand the nature and application of
the enduring questions concerning the true, the good, and the beautiful
(150-200 words). 2. Philosophers make use of
terms such as premodernity, modernity and postmodernity to describe shifts in
theological and philosophical positions. For this question, briefly describe
each of these philosophical positions (premodernity, modernity and
postmodernity) and construct a Biblical response to each (150-200 words).3. Douglas Groothuis writes in Truth Decay: “Without
a thorough and deeply rooted understanding of the Biblical view of truth as
revealed, objective, absolute, universal, eternally engaging, antithetical and
exclusive, unified and systematic, and as end in itself, the Christian response
to postmodernism will be muted by the surrounding culture or will make illicit
compromises with the truth-impoverished spirit of the age.”. For this question,
describe the nature of truth: how do we find truth, define truth, and evaluate
truth? (150-200 words)4. The ancient classical
philosophers referred to the enduring questions as transcendentals (in Latin:
transcendentalia). They referred to the properties of being. For something to
truly be, it had to be true, good, and beautiful. In Christian theology, the transcendental
is ontologically one and by logic convertible: for example, where there is
truth, there is goodness and beauty, and vice versa. For this question, explain
the relationship between truth, goodness, and beauty: how does beauty help us
to locate truth and goodness, etc.? (150 to 200 words).5. The enduring questions concerning truth, goodness, and beauty can be
used to defend Biblical truth in an age of relative confusion and uncertainty.
This practice is often referred to as the Biblical discipline of
Apologetics. William Lane Craig writes about the importance of this
discipline in our age: "If Christians could
be trained to provide solid evidence for what they believe and good answers to
unbelievers’ questions and objections, then the perception of Christians would
slowly change. Christians would be seen as thoughtful people to be taken
seriously rather than as emotional fanatics or buffoons. The gospel would be a
real alternative for people to embrace." For this question, describe
the discipline of Biblical Apologetics and describe how this discipline might
be applied in the 21st century. (150-200 words)
