University of North Texas International Business Deal with China Presentation
Purpose
The purpose of the intercultural communication presentation is to provide experience with the following:
Planning, composing, and delivering a memorable and instructive business presentation
Adapting in-person presentations to online platforms such as Zoom
Creating clear visual design
Teaching business professionals proper conduct while interacting with another culture
Collaborating on virtual platforms
Scenario
You work for a large financial investment firm whose clients are medium to large size corporations worldwide. A company from [insert country here] is interested in partnering with your firm and has invited your CEO and several executives to visit their offices for several days of meetings and deliberation. The executives have asked you to research how to create a positive and persuasive impression on their potential clients. They expect you to present your findings in a Zoom meeting.
They have asked to address the following areas:
How to schedule and conduct a meeting in a way that builds goodwill by demonstrating what the culture calls “good behavior”
How to negotiate and approach disagreements
How to behave and converse in a recreational setting (such as a dinner after a meeting)
Your recommendations should be based on your knowledge of these topics: high vs low context, individualism vs collectivism, power distance, uncertainty avoidance, time orientation, assertiveness, and verbal and nonverbal communication. You are free to give a brief explanation of these subjects in order to explain or give evidence to your recommendations.
Note that the potential clients speak English, so you won’t need translators.
Your presentation will concern the best business practices of one of these countries: Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, China, Italy, Sweden, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, and Kenya.
Your Task
After conducting research, you will design and deliver a four to five-minute presentation to the company executives. You will discuss the information they have requested.
Sign up for a slot to present (like you did for the new product service meeting).
Choose a country from this list to present on: Sweden, Singapore, Israel, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kenya, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, China, Italy
Research the country you have chosen. Evaluate the information you find online to make sure it is accurate.
Follow the steps discussed in Module 7 and your textbook to develop your presentation.
Design a maximum of eight slides, including the title slide and the concluding slides. Your slides should include visuals and very little text. You will not earn good points if all your content slides have bullet points. This is meant to ensure you are the one presenting, not your technology.
Practice, practice, and practice. You will lose points if you speak for less than four minutes or more than five minutes, if you read notes, or if your presentation sounds memorized.
Evaluate your presentation using the Presentation Checklist Download Presentation Checklist.
Present via Zoom at a specific time. You will be one the “executives” who are participating in the presentation. Failure to sign up or attend the Zoom meeting at the schedule time will result in a grade of zero.

G440/POT4001 Rasmussen College Groupthinking Case Scenario Paper
2/3 pages writtenStep 1: Case ScenarioRead the following case first; then proceed to the next steps. You work at a research lab and are 1 of the 6 researchers. Philip, a well-known and highly respected scientist in the lab has offered a theory that the cholesterol in eggs can have serious negative health effects on children. He cites 5 case studies done in different regions of the country over a two-year period and all studies suggest that negative health issues can be linked to egg consumption. His presentation is very compelling and the research lab has been offered significant amounts of government grant money to promote the findings of the cholesterol study. The lab goes forward with the cholesterol research and assigns the other 5 researchers the task of furthering the study. After one year of research and much economic success for everyone at the research lab, a meeting is convened to assess the progress of the program. At this meeting, Rose, a second scientist with a long history of field research experience offers the theory that while there could be a relational effect of the cholesterol in eggs to children, she argues that there is no causal relationship and these findings should be published. The group is stunned as no one has ever challenged Philip’s work and his previous studies on other areas have all been accepted by the scientific community. Rose is excoriated by the group and is told by the research lab that Philip’s reputation speaks for itself and her study is not credible and will not be pursued. Two years later, a rival lab proves Rose’s theory and Philp’s research lab loses all government funding.Step 2: Reflection PartAsk yourself:How can it be that a group of intelligent, experienced researchers would not explore the possibility of another theory in their study? What is the importance of dissenting opinions?Do I listen to and fully understand the point of view of the person expressing a dissenting opinion, especially if that person is the sole voice in the room.Do I arrive at my opinion without sufficient critical analysis?Am I basing my position on assumptions that I presume to be true, but that perhaps are not sufficiently tested or researched? After you have thought through your position on this scenario, apply your thinking to this week’s philosophers and complete Step 3 - the writing part of this assignment.Step 3: Writing PartIn 2-3 pages, explain how Locke and Rousseau might respond to this case of the research lab and groupthink if they were confronted with this situation. How might they explain majority rule and the social contract to illustrate their philosophy in dealing with groupthink? Support your analysis with quotes or paraphrases from the philosophers. Use APA format and citation when writing your assignment.

Before creating the total rewards program, you will have conducted a research project in which you have obtained original data thorough and detailed information about organizational goals, objectives, and challenges. You will have also designed metrics to evaluate the total rewards program. In the paper, you will provide the research findings in a report of at least 10 pages plus a title page and a reference page. Provide at least eight sources (in APA format) in a reference list and respective in-text citations. At least 5 of these sources must be from course materials. Please be sure to use topic headings and include the following:1. Provide a Title Page in Academic Format2. Give the Introduction and Purpose for the Paper3. Summarize and describe the organization, including its capabilities, key goals, objectives, challenges, values, and core competencies required for success.4. Demonstrate your knowledge of the total rewards model by describing the current total rewards philosophy of the organization and its three categories of offerings.5. Identify and describe the segmentation of the workforce (drawing up our study of how to differentiate employee groups depending on their drivers, such as flexible schedules, growth potential, desire for demonstrating individual expertise or team success, low obligation and easy income, or high obligation and high income).6. Describe further the current requisite capabilities of the organization and the competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities) of the employees and, in your opinion, an analysis of whether the current needs will change given the issues faced by the organization.7. Recommend changes to the total rewards program, along with specific plans, including plans for communicating the changes and metrics that should be used by the organization to evaluate the success of the new program.8. Present the justification for your recommendations.9. Assess and discuss the risks of not implementing the program and the opportunities the program will give the organization.10. Provide your metrics for evaluating the total rewards program and share why you chose the ones you did.11. Describe your conclusions and a summary of knowledge gained about total rewards through the activity.12. Reference Page (with at least eight scholarly sources), at least 5 of these should be from course materials.
