I need help with stats hypothesis problem. I'm not sure what test to run (one or two-tailed test) as well as stating the Ho and H1.

Dr. Himmler is studying the effect of cognitive emotive therapy (CET) on assertiveness. He provides an experimental group with six wks of CET whereas a control group spends an equal amount of time discussing the joys and rigorous exercise. After six weeks, both groups are given Elmer Fudd's Self-Assertion Scale (higher scores indicate greater assertiveness.

Initially, 25 subjects were randomly assigned to each group, but due to attrition and other factors beyond control, Dr. Himmler ended up with 24 experimentals (Exp) and 18 controls (Con) He observes that the mean and standard deviation for the experimentals were 28.4 and 6.8 respectively, and the corresponding values for the controls were 22.9 and 8.2.
