In this course project assignment you will review various methods used to distribute overhead expenses. Support your view/s using personal experience, website searches, the textbook and/or interviews.

- Think about these methods and choose the method you think is the most appropriate method of distributing overhead expenses for the company you have selected for the course project.

Specialty for this assignment will be removing old devices from existing power lines and replacing with smart grid devices - such as electronically monitored transformer detection devices for broken transmission lines due to storms, electronic meters on existing residences, smart thermostats etc.. Meters will be provided by a third party source. |

currently produces 43,000 megawatts of electricity which constitutes 4.7 percent of the United |
States electricity market. Providers, to date, number 3.275 utilities, whereby, 1,738 are non- |

customer sales and service. In addition, the Southern company constructs, acquires and manages |

The company is comprised of various Utilities throughout the Southeast. These |
utilities include Alabama Power, Georgia Power, Gulf Power and Mississippi Power. These |
utilities provide 4.4 million retail customers the power to support business and home. |
Company is regulated by the Public Service Commission and various federal energy |
agencies. The Public Service Commission ensures fair and equitable electric rates and the |
investment in new projects can be recovered. The Public Service Commission also defines profit |
margins on the retail market. |
The Company matrix for customer satisfaction is measured through the American |
Customer Service Index and the JD Power and Associates Electric Utility Rankings. Southern, |
through these agencies, has traditionally ranked in the top quartile. |
Southern Companies transmission system meets or exceeds the North American Electric |
Reliability Council standards for safety and reliability. Interruptions are measured Sustained |
Average Interruption Frequency Index. Southern interruptions to its customers are among the |
lowest in the nation. |
The company provides commercial and private use electricity to Alabama, |
Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and the Carolinas. In doing so, has the responsibility of 6.2 billion |
dollars in transmission assets which encompass 27,000 miles of transmission lines, 3,700 |
substations and 300,000 acres of right away. |
Company also operates subsidiaries which involve three operating nuclear plants, |
LINC - Wireless Communication, and Southern Telecom – fiber optic wholesaler. |
