Explanation & Answer

Tan= opposite side over the adjacent side

Remember it like this: Sin=o/h   Cos=a/h   Tan=o/a

o=opposite

a=adjacent

h=hypotenuse

It's a fun little way to remember this. (not making fun of hippies or drug addicts)

Back to tan. Tan stands for tangent. You find tangent by looking at an angle and applying it to the formula. Tangent is equal to the length of the opposite side, divided by the length of the adjacent side.

The opposite side is the side directly across from it. The adjacent side is the side that is a part of the angle, and is not the hypotenuse.
To put it into context, in question 34, the Tangent of B (also written like this tan(B)) is equal to the opposite side, divided by the adjacent side. The side opposite of angle B is 27. The side adjacent to be, is not the hypotenuse, but the other, which is equal to 18. 27/18 = 3/2 = 1 1/2.  Written as a decimal, that is 1.5.

The tangent of A, is the opposite side which is 18, over the adjacent side, which is 27. 18/27= 2/3, which as a decimal is .6667

Hopefully you understand. You should try the rest now to make sure. You don't want to fail a test covering this ;) . You'll be using it again with the unit circle, and in calculus, if you take those.

Take care partner. If you ever need any more help, don't be scared to message me.
