Description
Discuss the economy and any social issues, conflict/war, political structure and any technological advances during the era of good feelings
Explanation & Answer
During the Era of Good Feelings, the economy prospered through the stability created by a national bank. Also, protective tariffs were implemented to support American manufacturers. There were federally-funded internal improvements as well.
The political structure during that period was a one-party rule of Democratic-Republicans. Americans felt good and even complacent during that time. Due to the ending of the Napoleonic Wars they could afford to pay less attention to European political and military affairs. The predominent attitude of the American culture was one of isolationism. There was little if any appetite to get involved in foreign conflicts.
There were technological advances mainly in the transportation industry which became known as The Turnpike Era, the Canal Craze, the Railroad Era and the Steamboat Era.
