Abstract
It seems since I can remember Apple has been changing the technology industry in all
sorts of innovated ways. Apple came out with the first smartphone and the first I pad that change
user interface technology forever. Starting from the first iPhone and first iPad, Apple has always
improved their products and came out with new features on all their products but lately some
think Apple may be trouble all across the board. Apple has had some significant changes in its
company and products that many believe is affecting apples business. Has Apples business
model change for the good or bad?
Current Events in Business Research
Apple released the New iPhone six and six plus while many loyal Apple consumers were
excited about new iPhone, and they were immediately let down. Critics seem not too impressed
with the new phone. Many people expected more from Apple as they have always received
every year.
Describe the selected issue, opportunity, or problem facing the organization.
Apple’s new iPhone has very few new features except for a new design, but even this has
been criticized. Many say the iPhone six plus is too big. The iPhone six plus has been called a
two handed phone that can no longer be operated one handily. The regular iPhone six while is
small but does not provide any other features compared to its competitors. This brings me to the
other issue Apple is facing competition. Google, for example, has always been tailing apple but
now it seems Google is competing very aggressively with Apple product. Google has Android
phones that are cable of more customization than Apple. Google phones and tablets have more
apps than Apple because Google doesn’t require a high strict or security process to develop apps
for its consumer. Google has just as many innovating features on their products if not more than

Apple. Example, when the iPhone six came out so did Androids Note four, which is developed
by Google. Many say this phone is better than they iPhone six. The Note four has added some
very innovating ideas that people wonder why Apple didn’t think of this first. The Note four has
a two battery saving modes to extend battery life well beyond two days if needed. The Note four
also has a stylus pen integrated with the phone. The pen allows you to take out and use your
phone as a piece of paper to take notes, edit documents and more. The Note four has a child’s
mode for your kids to play with your phone without messing it up. These are just a few of many
innovating features that Google has in their products compared to Apple products. This may also
be the reason that almost fifty percent of people in today’s smartphone market have Android
phones compared to iPhone. Numbers have shown that half the population has adopted Google
devices while Apple is trailing by only a third of the population in today’s market.
Some say Apple may be losing the innovated ideas and the market, due to losing one of
their greatest leaders. Steve Jobs resigned back in 2011, and Tim Cook took Steve position, but
many think this was a big mistake. One Changed that occurred After Tim Cook took over Apple
stock was the earnings dropped in 2012 and 2013. Then again, Apples 2014 quarterly reports
were not impressive as they were when Steve was leading Apple. Tim has managed to improve
Apples stock recently with some additional business tactics. Buying Beets headphones for
example, has developed Apples stock along with implementing a stock split to lower prices of
Apples stock to get more investors. One of the problems is that Apples revenue has not been
improved as much as when Steve was running the company. Many say this is due to Steve being
more of an entrepreneur who cared about Apples products and business model. Tim Cook is
treating Apple as more as a business and running it more executively than from the heart. Many
say Steve was better at improving the products of Apple, and Tim is better at running the

business from an executive point of view. The question is, Apples switching leadership and
fewer creative ideas, and new operational marketing tactics are hurting Apple. Are Apple
products not top among others anymore, is it possible that Android could surpass Apple
products? These questioned will only be answered in the future as time passes but for now it
seems many for see concerns for Apple except Apple itself.
Justify why the chosen issue, opportunity, or problem facing the organization is important
to be researched and whether it can be solved with business research.
Apple started the smartphone and the iPad, which is the revolutionary era of electronics.
Without apples creative thinking and aggressive research, these products may never have been
invented. Apple paved the way for competition to start thinking outside the box. Apple’s
products are used worldwide for communication, used for business and personal use. Hospitals,
schools, government all use electronics and some are apple products. Currently, half of every
household in the United States has one Apple product according to Forbes magazine. The
Millennium generation continues to use technology as a resource for just about everything.
Despite the eager competition seeking to demolish Apple’s popularity. Apple companies
continue to create technology products that engage personal and professional technology activity
and making conveniently accessible. I believe that these problems can be solved with business
research, and this is imperative. We need apples creative thinking to keep paving the future for
us. We need apple to used business research and start studying their shortcomings. We need
them to continue educating our children with their products. We need Apple to keep creating
great communication tools for us to keep us in touch with our loved ones all over the world.
Apple has done great things with their products, and if we lose our innovators we may never be
able to see what is really possible for the future.

The concern here is Apple losing business to four main business aspects. The Apple
Company has technology challenges, leadership /organizational reconstruction, and competition
with other technology companies and economic issues. The impulsivity behind wrong business
decision has caused Apple to compete with itself. To arrive at a new product to sweep the market
by storm has come to a temporary halt. Has Apple peaked in technology trends? Researching
strategies assist with knowledge with competitors. Research will guide the company’s structure
as it relates to aforementioned business issues. Lastly, other companies are researching apple and
creating products that mimic Apple capability. Leaving Apple as the grandfather of technology
and not very many other companies to use as resources for growth potential
Discuss the significance, scope, magnitude, and feasibility of finding a solution to the issue,
opportunity, or problem.
Over the past several years, Apple had focused on a very limited target audience. The
audience of Apple was more limited to personal use while Steve Jobs was more focused on the
operations and performance of Macintosh. The globalization and expanded market for smart
phones and technological devices has generated newer opportunities to reach more consumers to
compete with the newly emerging competitors like Samsung. The significance of seizing the
opportunity provided by virtualization and globalized market is that it will provide a boost to
increase the number of consumers and boost the demand for smart phones and iPad on
international level. The opportunity can be stretched to deal with the market on the international
level. The new CEO of Apple has identified the opportunity of expanded market and decided to
broaden their target market and reach more corporate level businesses and organizational
employees. The purpose of adding newer features to facilitate businesses into iPhone and iPad is

to reduce the risk of falling back in the market as Samsung and other competitors focus to build
business oriented Apps and technologies [Nick Wingfield (2011)].
To address the corporate market on the international level, iPads and iPhones provide
have better feasibility to use as compared to laptops where there are issues with portability and
speedy retrieval of information. Applications like ICloud has built in cloud computing features to
connect the whole corporate world through one online server. Samsung and other competitors
had started building to cut the market share of Apple by developing cheaper Apps but Apple has
now focused more on the corporate business by appealing the employees with the newest and
latest features of iPhone and iPad. Apple is introducing more and more business-friendly features
into their products to stay the number one supplier of the communicational technology [Nick
Wingfield (2011)].
Conclusion
These issues can affect the big organizations when they deal with the global market. Even
though they are able to access the market and work effectively towards attaining a better bottomline, it is good to note that an over projection might affect the company in realizing the goals.
