Florida Gulf Coast University Second Amendment Discussion
Module 8 Discussion: The Second Amendment, Individual Rights, and the CollectiveAccording to Amendment II of the U.S. Constitution, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Militias—groups of men who banded together to protect the colonies, which became states—emerged during the Revolutionary War. After Americans won independence from Britain, as mentioned in the previous discussion, the Founding Fathers, led by Virginia Statesman James Madison, drafted a Bill of Rights to limit the power of the new national government. Ratified in 1791, the first 10 Amendments of the U.S. Constitution establish American civil liberties: the freedoms of U.S. citizens which are protected from infringement by the federal government. Madison crafted the Second Amendment to safeguard Americans' civil liberties, and to prevent a national government from wielding too much authority over its citizens. One of the most controversial Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, the Second Amendment, has incited divisive debate among Americans about individual rights versus the rights of the collective since its inception. Intention lies at the heart of the debate. Did the Framers of the Constitution intend for the Second Amendment to protect the right of individual citizens to own and carry firearms—the Individual Rights Theory—OR did the Founding Fathers intend for Amendment II to protect the right of each state, i.e., the collective, to exercise self-defense—the Collective Rights Theory? Collective Rights Theory scholars argue that the Founders intended the right to bear arms as a freedom that belongs to individual citizens who organize into groups to protect a community, such as the National Guard, which replaced state militias after the Civil War. Americans who oppose this theory argue that the Founders created the Second Amendment to give all citizens, and not just a militia, the right to own and carry firearms to protect themselves.QUESTIONS:1. Review the two memes that invoke Second Amendment rights below. What do the memes convey about the intended purpose of the Second Amendment? 2. Who do you think created the memes, and why?3. What do the memes reveal about the debate regarding the meaning of the Second Amendment, from the founding of the United States to the present?See picture:

BIO 220 GCU Restoration Pamphlet Paper
Select a scenario from the list below:There is a species of fish (with low numbers) that is having trouble traveling up and down the river because of a dam.Choose an area that is economically depressed but has a lot of species diversity, you need to protect the species while providing jobs for locals. An animal is being poached for its horn which is believed in some cultures to cure many diseases, it is not critically endangered. The demand for farming is increasing, which is destroying native forests and affecting their biodiversity. An animal is starting to become isolated because it is afraid to cross roads created by deforestation.Local birds typically migrate over the winter, but people are feeding them and thermal pollution at a local stream is keeping the water warmer, so the birds are not migrating, resulting in water pollution.A drought has been going on for a period of time; the water needed for homes, businesses, and farms has decreased lake and river levels impacting the amount available for local flora and fauna.Species are being found dead on local beaches due to plastic.Use the textbook and info-graphic under course materials to find the best resource management practice to implement.Create a pamphlet addressing the following:What is the issue and why it would workDescribe the restoration method you selected and why it would be best (with at least two examples of how it has worked in similar situations from peer reviewed sources)Time frame to complete the plan (include short and long term objectives)What is the end goal of the restoration project

Topic 1 – MIS in Florida MIS Radiology1.One of the leaders of Florida MIS Radiology finds health MIS terminology
confusing and needs clarifications. She understands that an information system
consists of five components, but it is unclear to her how these components
interact or what each of these components does. She recently read an article
discussing the use of information systems in airline reservations (as the one
discussed in our textbook), and she would like to draw parallels.
Thus, for each of the five components, explain how health information systems
are similar to and differ from an airline reservation system. Give examples of
similarities and differences for each component. Justify your answers and cite
your sources. The minimum word count of the answer is 300, excluding
references. Your answer must be presented in an essay form; not as a list of
bullet points. 2Topic 2 – Business Processes in Florida MIS Radiology Discuss business process modeling in health care
.Provide examples of how information systems can improve process
quality in health care .To understand Florida MIS Radiology’s business processes, you interviewed one
of the administrative specialists regarding a typical work day in the office. Below
are your notes: “In most cases, the department receives examination orders from affiliated
hospitals. The examination orders include patient information, demographics,
date, and a description of the examination required.
The patient calls to make an appointment. Once the appointment is scheduled,
an administrative staff member sends the patient pre-registration forms to fill out
before the appointment.
When the patient arrives for the appointment, he/she completes the registration
forms. An administrative staff member verifies insurance information, patient
identification, and examination orders. A folder containing all patient information
collected is created for the specific patient and is stored in the records area of the
practice.
A nurse takes the patient in the examination area, where vital signs are collected.
The nurse verifies the examination orders and moves the patient to the
appropriate diagnostic area, where a technologist performs the test. For more
advanced tests, like MRI with contrast, the radiologist injects the patient with the
appropriate agent before the exam.
After completion of the exam, the images are printed and sent to the radiologits.for evaluation. The patient is released.
The radiologist evaluates the images and creates his/her report. An
administrative staff member stores the images and report in the patient’s folder
and sends copies to the ordering clinician in the affiliated hospital.” For this topic: 1. Create a process diagram in swim lane format that depicts the process
described in the interview. Make sure to include all actors, activities, sub
processes, data repositories, decisions and data/control flows required.
You may create the graph using a software of your choosing (e.g. Word,
Visio, draw.io, etc.) or sketch it. and Attach 2. Provide 3 examples of how information systems can facilitate or improve
quality of the process described.

Accident Causation and Investigation
Prepare a project report using the attached Unit VI Consulting Report template for your project, and complete the template based on the following information:
Part I: List the five most significant financial benefits for an organization to invest in a safety system or program.
Part II: Acme Construction is due for a workers’ compensation premium review and you have been asked to estimate the potential premiums for the coming year. You have 10 masonry employees (classification—5022) with a rate of $7.96; four plumbers (classification—5183) with a rate of $3.86); and two electricians (classification—5190) with a rate of $4.32. The total payroll for the three classifications are as follows:
5022 masonry $416,000 (total annual payroll)
5183 plumbers $208,000 (total annual payroll)
5190 electricians $145,600 (total annual payroll)
The previous experience modification rate (EMR) was 1.0 because the company had only been in business for 3 years and the EMR is based on a 3-year rolling average. In those previous 3 years, your company had zero claims and you can anticipate that your company will have a reduction in the EMR to at least 0.90. However, you have not received notification of this new EMR, so base your overall premium calculations on an EMR of 1.0
Part III: Using the results from the 1.0 EMR premium estimate, calculate the rate to one of a 0.9 EMR and then a EMR 1.25 rating. Compare both of them to the previous EMR of 1.0 and show in a table as was depicted in the unit lesson.
Part IV: Provide a summary of the energy release theory of accident causation.
Part V: Explain the near-miss relationship as referenced in Figure 20.7 of your textbook in your own words.
Ensure you address all parts of the template. Your project should be at least three pages in length using the above template. Make sure you show your equations and all work for determining answers for Parts II and Parts III in the project template.
