Prepare a 750- to 1,050-word speech in simple terms and concepts that focus on international trade and foreign exchange rates. You are the Public Relations spokesperson for your company. Following the congressional hearings, your CEO has instructed you to give a speech to the local Press Association about the impact of foreign trade for your company. Integrate a summary of your answers to the following questions and cite external research to further justify your facts: • What are the effects of international trade on the domestic and international markets of your industry? • What happens when there is a surplus of imports brought into the U.S. for your industry? Cite a specific example of a product your industry either imports or exports, and the impact that has on U.S. businesses and consumers. • How do government choices in regards to tariffs and quotas affect international relations and trade for your industry? • What are foreign exchange rates? How are they affecting your industry? • Why doesn’t the U.S. simply restrict all goods coming in from China or other countries that compete with you? What is your industry’s position on the use of trade restrictions as it relates to your industry?
