Question Description

I need help with writing a summary. Here are the requirements for it:


This paper is designed in order for you to demonstrate the global knowledge that you acquired over the semester. You will be required to combine your understanding of several global civilizations and explain differences and similarities between them. This specific project requires you to roll play a historical traveler, and write a memoir of his or her travels. 

Developing your Idea

Step 1: Pick a time period that covers our course, anywhere from 1750 to 1975

Step 2: Develop the identity of your traveler – soldier, businessperson, politician, artist, explorer, etc. 

Step 3: Select the home city of your traveler and at least two cities in two different civilizations that your traveler will visit. 

Step 4: Determine the purpose of the travel 

Step 5: Find a published historical source (book, article or primary source) for each city you will visit 


1) Short description of your traveler - occupation, method of travel, time period 

2) List of home city and cities your traveler will visit

3) List one published historical source (book, article or primary source) for each city your traveler will visit 

4) Cite source using the Chicago method (examples of Chicago citations (Links to an external site.))

4.Indian Soldier (sepoy) – Calcutta, Canton, London – 1850s

5.English Explorer – London, South Africa, Australia – 1900

6.German WWI Solider – Berlin, Russian, Western Front – 1914-1918

7.American Reporter – New York, Berlin, Moscow – 1935

8.Japanese Soldier – Tokyo, China, Okinawa – 1940s

9.Russian Spy – Moscow, Korea, Cuba – 1950s/1960s

Anti-Colonial Protestor – India, Algeria, South Africa – 1950s and 1960s
