Description
Describe a time that you had success with learning something new. Why do you think the learning went so well. Did your success have anything to do with your right- or left-brain strengths?
Explanation & Answer
I remember when I first learned how to play chess with my dad. He showed me each piece one by one from the pawn all the way up to the king. I watched as he showed me how each piece is allowed to move and capture other pieces, and listened to his suggestions about getting to "check mate" to win the game. The learning went well because of the repetition and patterns involved in the game. After a few games, I was able to beat my dad fair and square. The left-brain strength of being analytical and learning through repetitions helped me to learn the game easily.
