Question description

Communal ceremony is a ritual that gives social meaning. Especially in many culture when entering adulthood. In Body Art as Visual Language, it talks about how different culture has different meaning to beauty. For example orthodox Jewish Women shave their head after marriage and cover it with wig or scarves because hair is a sign of beauty and after marriage they shouldn't show it in public. In the story Initiated into an Iban Tribe of Headhunters they have a different way of ritual they do when a young guy is to prove he has become a man. He has to go through these tasks to prove the others. He wasn't able to give up or get caught if not he will be killed. Douchan ended up passing the ritual after he did he realized that the way the tribe work wasn't what he believed it would be like. Instead of him being closer to them he felt more distances.
