In this assignment, you are asked to conduct 2 qualitative interview. Please choose a
research topic - any topic in which you find interest and curiosity – and present the
interview according to the following steps (as learned and practiced in our
recitations throughout the semester).
Including: (1) Course name (2) Full students name + ID number (3) Research
Research Question (up to half a page)
Please provide paragraph explaining the background of your research topic and
what led you to this choice. Then write your major research question for this
qualitative research. Remember, in this case, the research question deals with
the information you want to understand, discover, reveal, and identify through
the interview, especially information which intrigues you. The research question
is the central axis around which the researcher focuses in qualitative research.
As the research question is the conceptual focus of the research, it is advisable
to formulate your thoughts before posing it. The wording should be such that
it can be answered by the researcher.
Explanation about the Methodology (up to half a page)
In this section you will be shedding light on one of the interview methods that
you have learned in the course. In the methodology section, you will write on
the specific procedure you used to identify, select, process, and analyze
information about your research topic. Please indicate the questions you
have used in the interview (write down at least 5 questions).
Remember, in a research paper, the methodology section allows the reader to
critically evaluate a study’s overall validity and reliability, as you are addressing
two main questions - How was the data collected or generated and how was
it analyzed? Your interview will be analyzed according to what you learned in
Findings (up to 2 pages)
This section is the "heart" of the study, as you are presenting your research
findings from the interview you have conducted. Your findings should be written
in response to your research question, presenting at least 2 or more themes
that hold new information arising from your analysis. Remember, you are
requested to use your collected data as evidence or examples to support the
findings you have identified and demonstrate your research value. Therefore,
you should focus on data that enables you to address your major research
Please remember that data must be interpreted and connected to your
broader research question. The analysis always moves beyond the data.
It does not just report words - it interprets them and organizes them within
a larger overarching conceptual framework.
