Question Description

it has to be 400 words, please use references and citations.

What exactly is the Equal Protection Clause ("EPC")? Where is it found in the U.S. Constitution? Does it apply only to the federal government or to the state governments as well (and if so, how?)? What are the types of scrutiny the courts use to review cases arising under the EPC and to whom do they apply? Are these types of scrutiny necessary or should there be one standard of review for court cases under the EPC? Should it be a case-by-case basis? What are your specific thoughts and opinions on the EPC?

Now, read the following article about a pending parental-leave lawsuit:

Using the EPC as the basis for your position, how should the court decide this case?
