The previous view towards women was that it was private property or that it was sex that was designated to be humiliating to men. The United Nations statement regarding violence against women in 1993 confirms: that violence against women is a manifestation of the unequal relationship throughout history between men and women, which led men to domination and discrimination against women. However, it prevented it from progressing and violence against women led to its positioning in one of the crucial social mechanisms in which women are forced to assume the position of subordinate compared to men. Moreover, in 1870 the general law was removed from the court that gives the right to the husband "to punish the wife physically if she is wrong." In the United Kingdom in 1891 the husband's traditional right to "inflict moderate corporal punishment on his wife in order to keep her within the limits of duty" was removed. By training healthcare providers through well-structured courses and enabling them to understand and utilize the existing interventions in healthcare settings, these providers will more effectively identify and respond to victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence definition : Defined as a form of abusive behavior issued by one or both partners in the marital or family relationship. It has many forms, including physical abuse (such as hitting, kicking, biting, slapping. Throwing things. Moreover, psychological threat such as sexual assault or emotional abuse, domination, tyranny, intimidation, or stalking. Also, hidden negative abuse such as neglect, or economic deprivation, and family violence may accompany pathological conditions such as alcoholism and mental illnesses. Awareness is one of the things that help in treating and reducing family violence. Criteria for defining domestic violence vary widely from country to country and from era to another. Domestic violence is not limited to the apparent physical abuse, but it goes beyond it to include other matters such as exposure to danger, coercion of crime, kidnapping, illegal imprisonment, infiltration, stalking and harassment. The prevalence ranged from 23.2% in high-income regions to 37.7% in southeast Asia. Moreover, the prevalence of intimate partner homicide, where killing is carried out by a male partner during an abusive relationship, ranged from 6% to 38% with a median of 13% worldwide. According to WHO readings, the percent in SA consider as high prevalence rate may be related more reports which consider as good sign because it reflects a good awareness. Community Health Nursing and Health Education (NURS 415) 6 Analyzes the trends of health indicator : This study is the first scientific study to be conducted at the level of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on awareness, procedures and training needs in the various fields related to the phenomenon of domestic violence. This study is the largest scientific study in terms of sample size (5,075) conducted in the Kingdom on the phenomenon of domestic violence. The importance of this study stems from the fact that it included a large number of stakeholders that deal with cases of domestic violence, schools for girls of all primary, intermediate and secondary levels, as well as the judiciary sector, the health sector, the police sector and charities, which makes its results comprehensive, taken and generalizable. At the level of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 71% Of the study sample agreed on the existence of domestic violence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 1 9% of the study sample agreed that the problem of domestic violence is a phenomenon in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 60% of the study sample believes that the official numbers of victims of domestic violence are less than the real numbers on the ground. 68% see the need for systems to protect women from domestic violence in the Kingdom. Only 3% of the study sample stated that there are institutions and bodies that protect women from domestic violence. Hospital and medical center employees are more aware of the issue of domestic violence (8%), followed by employees of charitable societies (44%). The study found that the lowest levels of society aware of the issue of domestic violence are judges and others affiliated with Sharia courts (23%), then police and security personnel (31%). Community Health Nursing and Health Education (NURS 415) 7 Another survey by Aisa Alharbi (2018) An opinion poll revealed that 44% of the respondents believe that violence against women is minimal, while 36% think it is of a moderate degree, 10% think it is increasing, and only 9% think that there is no violence against women. 16% of the women surveyed confirmed that there are many cases of violence against women, while 4.5% of them indicated that there is no violence against women. The National Center for Public Opinion Polls conducted a community opinion poll on the issue of violence against women and its empowerment programs, in cooperation with the Family Safety Program. Community Health Nursing and Health Education (NURS 415) 8 Summary : Domestic violence in women is a major public health issue, both locally in SA and worldwide, and has significant physical and psychological impacts. More efforts are needed at different levels to implement preventive measures and to improve the detection and management of domestic violence victims, especially at front-line health settings like family practices and emergency care services.
