Identifying Different Induction Fallacies
Instructions:Each of the arguments below commits an induction fallacy. In each case, identify the fallacy you think has been committed, providing a brief explanation for each. I have interviewed people walking around downtown Indianapolis, and the vast majority of people are fairly liberal in their politics. Apparently Indiana is quite a politically liberal state.During a three-day business trip to San Francisco, I saw two different drivers fail to come to a complete stop at a four-way stop sign. Clearly this is a city full of people who cannot drive according to the rules. My neighbor is one of the smartest people I have ever met. She assured me that an earthquake in this area is immanent sometime between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. next Monday, so there will be an earthquake at that time.My son has had four colds so far this winter, and in each case, just before the first sign of symptoms, he was allowed to eat dessert before dinner. Obviously having dessert before dinner is causing these colds. He sometimes behaves very violently when I am around him. I do not know what I am doing that causes him to become so violent. If you do not give me a ride to campus, I might be late for my geography quiz. And if I am late, I probably won’t do well on it. If I don’t do well on it, there is a strong chance I will fail the class, which could mean that I will not graduate on time, and that will make it harder for me to find a job. So if you don’t give me a ride to campus right now, I’ll have a hard time finding a job.The Broncos are going to win the next Super Bowl. Everyone knows they will win.The reason that cancer has not been cured is that cancer researchers, deep down, do not really want to find a cure since that will put them out of a job.College is a total waste of money. Consider the case of Steve Jobs. He went for a while, dropped out, and ended up a multimillionaire. When you slowly put a lit match into water, the fire goes out. Gasoline, like water, is a liquid, so when I slowly put this lit match into it, the fire will go out.Answer the questions in APA format, should be 1 page minimum. Use 1 source to assist you in answering the questions appropriately. Be sure to use in-text citations. Source to use: Moore, B. N., Parker, R. (2017). Critical Thinking, 12th Edition.
