When you're trying to prove congruency of TRIANGLES you use one of those.

ASA is Angle - Side - Angle, which means if two triangles have a corresponding angle, then a side, then another angle that are congruent in that order, then the triangle is congruent.

AAS is Angle-Angle-Side

SAS is Side-Angle-Side

SSS is Side-Side-Side

and finally HL, which stands for Hypotenuse-Leg.  It only applies to right triangles.
