Insurance Available to Save Money & Sociology Discussion
InstructionsStratification Playspent Writing AssignmentThis Topic has focused on systems of stratification and how it affects the class structure. In this assignment, you will play an online game, Spent, that simulates living in poverty and answer questions about the experience. Many Americans face severe hardship at the bottom of the income ladder. They encounter low-wage jobs, high rents, poor nutrition, lack of access to health care, and other challenges. Play the game Spent at Play Spent to see how long you survive on the proceeds of a low-wage job. How soon will your expenses exceed your income? Spent will ask you to make a series of decisions and report the consequences back to you.Play this game at least two times and answer the following questions in a writing assignment:What strategies did you make your money last through the month? How did you feel as you followed your strategy? For example, did denying a request for help from a family member feel like the right thing to do? Did going to work even though your child was sick seem like the best choice that you had? What lessons did you derive from this exercise about living on the income earned from a low-wage job?Discuss your thoughts on how poverty is officially measured in the United States. Are you critical, or do you think it is accurate because it has been used since the 1960's.In explaining stratification and poverty in the United States, which view, functionalist or conflict, makes more sense to you? Why?Remember for each writing assignment students are expected to support their responses to the questions posed by applying course material and additional, external research. It is important that you include proper documentation of this research in each and every assignment. This means you need to include in-text citations and a references page that meet ASA guidelines for EVERY assignment. This is reflected in the grading rubric. The links provided in the Course Overview, among other things, will provide you with information about these guidelines (see the Purdue Owl Lab or Quick Tips of ASA style for the most comprehensive listing of ASA style guidelines). CE 440 PUG Planning Using Current Interventions for Young Children with ASD Paper
Instructional Planning Using Current Interventions for Young Children with ASD
Throughout this course, you explored many strategies and interventions that can be used to develop curriculum for young children with ASD. It is critical that early childhood professionals develop specific and measureable goals that will define a student’s progress. Interventions can be used to effectively implement and achieve goals that meet a student’s needs including improving a child’s levels of functioning in each of the developmental domains.
For the Unit 9 Assignment, you will develop an instructional goal that meets the needs of your student, Alex. After developing your goal, you will create a way to measure that goal and explain appropriate interventions to achieve the goal. Read Alex’s Case Scenario and analyze his current levels of performance in each developmental domain.
Imagine that you are a professional working with Alex and that you have observed these present levels of performance in the preschool inclusive classroom setting. Choose one developmental domain and complete all three parts of the project. Please use the Unit 9 Assignment Template to ensure you complete your Assignment requirements.
Part 1: Hypothesized Goal
After reviewing the summary of the assessment of Alex’s development skills, write a hypothesized goal for Alex based on his needs in one developmental domain (social/emotional, fine motor, gross motor, language/communication, cognitive/academic development, and self-help). Please be sure to review the resource Examples of IEP Goals and Objectives: Suggestions for Students with Autism to assist you in developing an appropriate goal.
The hypothesized goal statement should reflect a specific outcome of development that you predict would occur with strategies based on evidence-based interventions. Your hypothesis, similar to an annual goal written in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), should address Alex’s needs while building upon his current strengths and skills and the goals of the family. Make sure your hypothesis states what skill Alex will be able to perform in one year’s time and how progress of that skill will be measured.
Part 2: Data Collection
Choose a method to measure progress towards your hypothesized goal. You can create a simple data collection sheet, teacher observation form, work portfolio checklist, or a lesson plan. This data collection will include samples of Alex’ progress and identify whether your hypothesized goal was appropriate.
Part 3: Interventions and Teaching Strategies
Using your hypothesized goal, write a 1-page persuasive essay examining two interventions discussed through this course that could be used to meet your goal. This essay should identify what evidence-based interventions are appropriate to use according to Alex’s hypothesized goal.
You must choose two interventions and/or teaching strategies that will apply to instruction in the learning environment and support the use of these interventions. Describe how the interventions could be considered best practices in the field of educating young children with ASD.
