Profit from x gallons of gasoline= $0.15x
Profit from y gallons of kerosene= $0.14y
So
0.15x + 0.14y = 725. Equation 2
Multiplying equation 1 by 0.15 and substact eq. 2 from it we get
0.15y - 0.14y = 5000x0.15 - 725
0.01y = 25
y = 25/0.01
y = 2500
Therefore y= 2500 gallons kerosene
Substituting in eq 1, we get
x= 5000- 2500 = 2500 gallons gasoline.
