Question description

You need to download the pdf attached & read the article & explain in your own words. Also check the TED link I have provided.

Patricia Smith’s argument could have been written much differently—she could have written a conventional essay-argument and used different secondary sources to support an explicit argument.

Instead, Smith gives us an argument that is more implicit. Her position should be clear to us by the end of the piece, but she establishes her argument through somewhat unconventional ways.  She crafts evocative imagery, refers to memories, provides narration and incorporates her mother’s speech. Interestingly, there is a sharp difference between her mother’s English and the way Smith uses English in the text.

For this tutorial, share your thoughts about how Smith has constructed her argument and your considered opinion regarding whether or not her choices created a persuasive text.  You can relate your points to  this  reading &  TED talks(video link)
