Irving Goffman, a sociological theorist, believed that we seek to present ourselves in the ways we want to be seen. He stated that if we have a “spoiled identity” we seek to hide these parts of ourselves, but those that have similar identities “know” us because they share a similar secret identity. What could he mean by this

De Anza College Sociological Perspectives of a Black American Discussion
According to C. Wright Mills, “The sociological imagination enables us to grasp history and biography and the relations between the two within society. That is its task and its promise.”Write a 5-6 page paper that shows how your biography—the story of your life—was shaped by social and historical forces—the story of society, and/or the relationship between your private troubles and public issues. The first 1-1 ½ pages should be an overview of your life—where you are from, what your family did for a living, and the important relationships and events in your life. The last 3-4 pages should show the relationship between your biography and history; in other words, show how social factors shaped your biography. To do this well you probably have to include a little research on historical events (Internet research is fine but avoid Wikipedia). Also, CITE YOUR SOURCES (in whatever format you’d like). You cannot get an A on this paper without citing sources. Mills discusses the relationship between private troubles and public issues; however, if you feel that your life has been trouble-free, you may say so, as long as you discuss the social and historical reasons for your trouble-free life. For example, if you benefited from the dot-com boom, you may say so, but show how it was a social phenomenon. To brainstorm, do as Dalton Conley suggests and ask yourself what seemingly impersonal and remote historical forces shaped the most basic, intimate aspects of your life. Here are some topics you might want to explore, though this is not an exhaustive list: The EconomyEducationRace RelationsImmigration Gender RelationsWar PovertySexual AttitudesMedicine/Health Care ReligionSocial MovementsDisease TerrorismMediaCrimeThere are a million topics to explore, but just cover three topics.

UN peacekeeping in the 1990s
Choose either Somalia or the former Yugoslavia. Part 1 - Continuing with our approach of "what have we learned" - what are the three most important lessons in UN involvement in the conflict you choose? How do they compare with your analysis of the conflicts in Week 2? (SEE ATTACHED FOR WEEK TWO ANALYSIS)Part 2 - Thinking about the ineffectiveness of these missions, in your view, do the institutional problems concerning peacekeeping within the UN still exist today? Focus on the readings and background materials in Lessons to help answer the first part of the question. You may bring in outside readings (research) to discussion current institutional issues.Your answer should be at least 350 words, with three follow-ups to classmates of at least 150 words. Try to push the discussions forward by asking a follow-up question or sharing a resource.

Neural Networks and Human Machine Interactions Paper
Often, human factors specialists and engineers are part of a
design team developing systems with human-machine-automation interactions. Based
on your initial understanding of how a neural network operates in the human
brain, assess the potential human factors issues that might arise with respect
to integrating human and machine thinking in a dynamic system. From this,
select an issue you believe is critical to address. Explain, briefly, what you
believe should be taken into consideration. Now, if you were to construct a
study to examine how to demonstrate this aspect of cognition, what would you
pose as your specific research question or hypothesis? State this and explain
your rationale. Provide at least two scholarly resource to support your
approach. Present this as a brief. Your brief should be approximately 800
words in length and should be written in APA format. From professor to students:Take some time and explore all the areas, make sure all these
areas are correct!- APA format.- Correct "Scholarly" references.- Understand that you need to do more than just read and repeat
information that is assigned to you.- You must find/read/understand/cite peer reviewed/scholarly
articles in every assignment.- You must provide analysis of information, not just summarize it
for me.I spend a lot of time grading APA format and academic references. One of your required books is "Publication Manual of the
American Psychological Association (6th edition)."Know the proper format for your papers, your
references, and your posts.I expect you to know APA format.I expect you to know what a good reference entail. If you are unsure, look it up.Get it right!!!
