First it is important to understand that a network is the linking of two or more computers in order to share resources, exchange files or to allow electronic communication. This can be done through cabling telephone lines, radio waves, and satellites or through infrared beams.
Peer to peer networking by explanation is a decentralized computer communication model in which each computer has the same capabilities and either can initiate a communication session. In contrast to client server model, the client makes a service request and the server fulfils the request. In peer to peer communication networking, the network model allows each node to function as both client and server (Yahyavi, & Kemme, 2013).
In most cases, client server is more preferred than peer to peer networking, in the sense that peer is prone to security problems i.e. malwares, virus, Trojans and spywares can easily be transferred over the peer to peer architecture. At the same time the whole system is decentralized therefore it becomes very difficult to administer as well as difficulty in terms of data recovery. Peer to peer is only preferred in connecting at most 10 computers in the network where high level of security is not required (Zhang, Bockelman, Carder & Tannenbaum, 2015, May).
Client server architecture is more preferred in that there is centralization therefore there easy access, and high security of resources and data as they are controlled through the server. High scalability as the any element can be upgraded we need be. At the same time new technology can be easy integrated in the system. All components in system work together i.e. the server, client and network.

I budgeting for modem you should go for standard modem that will cost approximately $200.
Network cables connect computers to each other and other related hardware such as hubs, routers and network adapters. For this case you will require Ethernet network adapter for each computer that is 12 network adaptor cables, one Ethernet cable for each computer and other hardware devices. This may not be expensive as such because it majorly depends on the length. For this case it may cost approximately $50
Careful selection of client computers is needed here. You should not go for third party RDP clients which are reverse engineered, which may cause incompatibility problems and slow down performance. For this case we will go for Windows XP service pack 1 which will enable auto reconnection.
The file sever which is a hardware used to provide file handling and storage functions for multiple users, will be Sun Microsystems. This is because storing files on this server saves multiple copies stored on individual computers. This will help in economizing space and also will ensure easy administration and updating of files.
