Random testing for drug use has both merits and demerits.

SUPPORT OF IT:

1.It reduces absenteeism at work and reduced taking of of sick leave

2.Random testing will reduce consumption of alcohol and drugs hence preventing accidents and increasing productivity at the work.

POINTS AGAINST RANDOM DRUG TESTING

1.Unwarranted invasion of privacy of an individual and error during taking sample for testing.

2.Another  ethical issue is the implication of discrimination as a result of drug or alcohol testing

3.Systemic discrimination on the disabled people, people with AIDS and pregnant women that testing may endenger.

4. Lastly is the privacy of an individual because you have to give the sample each urine in presence of a supervisor.
