Evolution of Retailing Presentation
NO COPIED CONTENT...I'VE PROVIDED THE POWERPOINT TEMPLATE BELOW TO IMPLEMENT ANSWERS TO THE FOLLOWING SCENARIO:STANDARD PROBLEM SOLVING EXERCISE You are the Logistics Manager for “Pie in the Sky” manufacturing. You’ve just come back from the President’s office where you got a chewing out again. The boss chewed you out for the second straight month because of the increasing percentage of raw materials for your new toy, the flying pie, are damaged when received. He has told you to breakout your problem solving tools and get the problem fixed. You go back to your office feeling pretty bad. You get right to work on the problem. Here are the facts that you know: a. Suppliers:Randy and Rusty’s plastics and Tony’s rubber and metals. b. You receive two shipments per week from each supplier. c. The shipments should be inspected before leaving your suppliers and again by the company’s shipping and receiving department. d. Shipping and receiving moves the raw materials to the storage area until it’s pulled for use (a week after delivery). e. The storage area is managed by a man, Jimmy, who is in his sixties and not in good health.He has one permanent employee and two students who work after school for a few hours. f. The raw materials are moved to the production line on Monday and Wednesday.Jimmy and his permanent employee retrieve the materials and forklift the pallets to the production area.This is done early in the morning before the factory workers come in.Now you remember hearing some complaints about the materials not being secured on the pallets. g. The production line workers remove the materials from packing and move them by hand to the beginning of the production line to start the process. h. The raw materials, especially the plastic, are delicate.The materials, if dropped can be damaged. i. The materials make their way through production line and come out on the end; a finished product ready to ship.The same crew that delivered the materials to the line, pick-up the finished products, and return them to the storage area for packing and shipping.The packing and shipping is not outsourced. j. You have a computer system that tracks all materials, finished products, shipment to customers, and financial transactions.However, it’s become outdated and the information contained is not always reliable. Now that you have some basic facts, you can start solving this problem.You remember back to your school days when you took supply chain management.You remember your great instructor and the Standard Problem- Solving that you were taught. Professionalism: Skills for workplace
InstructionsThis assignment
provides you with an opportunity to complete three major items: a cover letter,
a resume, and a professional strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
(SWOT) analysis. The cover letter should be a three-paragraph memo that has been
tailored to a specific job that interests you. The resume should adhere to the
steps outlined in Chapter 14 (see page 206). The details within the resume must
be current with all relevant and up-to-date information. The SWOT analysis
should address your professional strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
threats. Bullet points are acceptable for the resume and SWOT analysis;
however, they must be detailed. Again, the cover letter must include three
paragraphs. Also, the resume must be at least one page, and the SWOT analysis
must thoroughly address each of the four parts of the analysis. Be sure to have
the major items in the proper sequence: first, the cover letter; then, the
resume; and finally, the SWOT analysis. Format each major item as you wish;
however, be sure the details are professional and legible. Save all three
within one word-processing document (e.g., Word) before submitting the file in
Blackboard for grading.Textbook: Anderson, L. E.,
& Bolt, S. B. (2016). Professionalism: Skills for workplace success (4th
ed.). Boston, MA: Pearson.

Unit: Human Capital Management and Leadership Styles
Primary Task Response: In between 500-600 words respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.
Additional Information: Earlier today, you attended a meeting with Shawn Williams, the new VP of global human capital management at Atlantis Global Corporation (AGC), and John Dawson, the company's chief executive officer (CEO). John was very concerned about the financial losses at AGC. John’s main concerns were product market share and the threat of losing AGC's market position as the top manufacturer of electronic circuit boards for high-definition television screens. However, John did not mention any issues relating to the employees who work at AGC. Last month, the general manager of one of AGC’s global subsidiaries told Shawn that it is difficult to recruit talent for AGC, that employees are not happy, and that many are leaving AGC to work for other organizations. Shawn discussed developing a new recognition-and-rewards program to attract talent, motivate employees, and improve job satisfaction. When Shawn brought the up human capital concerns at AGC in the meeting, John was not very interested and thought that employee-related issues are not critical to AGC’s performance. Shawn thinks that it will be challenging to work with John to implement a global human capital management strategy.
You and Shawn are scheduled to meet next week with John and the board of directors at AGC. Due to the urgency of the company’s situation, you and Shawn decide to create a briefing about the value and need for an optimized program for the management of global human capital.
Review the AGC scenario for this course and with your classmates; discuss the following questions that will help you and Shawn prepare for the briefing:
What are the differences between the leadership styles of Shawn and John? What are the pros and cons of each style?
What is your own leadership style? During the briefing, how will you use your leadership style to illustrate the intrinsic value of human capital?
What human capital management strategies will you recommend to John and the board of directors? What examples from other organizations can you provide to strengthen the board’s knowledge of global human capital trends and problems?
