Description
Which one of the meanings of the 5 Ks of Sikhism intrigues you most? Explain why.
Explanation & Answer
Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!
One of the Ks that intrigues me the most is the Kachera. This is a particular type of cotton undergarment that was worn by soldiers. By wearing the garment, they were showing that they were willing and ready at any time all time to go to battle or avail themselves for defense purposes. When an individual has taken the Amrit, he wears the Kachera on a daily basis. There are those who put it on even when taking a bath so as not to compromise their readiness and availability when called upon. It also symbolizes respect as well as remind the individual wearing it of the importance of mental control over lust. It is generally considered disrespectful for women to wear the Kachera as an outer garment because it is too revealing.
