Capella The Imperative for Adaptive Organizations Margaret Wheatley Case Study
OVERVIEWWrite an analysis of Margaret Wheatley's theories and perspectives on leadership and organizations. There are no page number requirements for this assessment. An analysis of someone else's perspective on the application of the theories of leadership allows you to compare and contrast them against your own work experience and gives you a broader context with which to consider best practices you might want to implement in your own career.ContextThe resources for this assessment examine the new science of leadership as well as the use of personal, purpose, and change mastery. These resources can help you become familiar with why a sense of purpose gives meaning to and helps release the energy of an authentic and congruent leader. Out of a sense of purpose, leaders develop the courage to put language around their vision. The suggested readings also address how a leader adapts to change and why noticing resistance to change helps a leader examine ineffective old patterns. In order to lead others through change, leaders must trust themselves to think simultaneously in the present and in the future. This requires the ability to adapt and deal with ambiguity and anxiety in the midst of unfolding reality.Toggle DrawerQuestions to ConsiderTo deepen your understanding, you are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of the business community.Based on the readings from the Cashman text, linked in the Resources, consider the following:Personal Mastery: How does self-observation, which you may consider an inquiry into authentic self-expression and values and self-limiting beliefs, help enhance a person's capacity to lead?Purpose: What are you learning about what you value? What is important and gives meaning to your life and work? Why might this reflection be important to a leader's development? How might this reflection, or the others you have done, be the basis for the leader interviews you will conduct in this course?Change: What are you learning about your comfort or resistance to change and your tendency toward potential versus loss? How might you use these questions in your upcoming interviews with leaders? Why is it important for a leader to understand his or her reaction to change? What is a leader's role in influencing and coaching other people through change? How might change mastery apply to interviewing protocol and questions?ResourcesRequired ResourcesThe following resources are required to complete the assessment.School ResourcesClick the links provided to view the following resources:New Business Realities of the 21st Century.Suggested ResourcesThe following optional resources are provided to support you in completing the assessment or to provide a helpful context.
