Explanation & Answer

A close reading of Sharon Old’s 35/10, I believe that the pair of details that best indicate that it is a story of the daughter replacing the mother is “brown hair/silver hair” from “Brushing out our daughter's brown/ silken hair before the mirror/ I see the grey gleaming on my head,/ the silver-haired servant behind her.”

All the other pairs of details are they were presented subsequently in the poem served to further emphasized the “brown hair/silver hair” pair. Moreover, brown hair will eventually be replaced by silver hair just like the theme of the poem – replacement. On the other hand, cheekbones and jowls, and acne and dry skin are not necessarily an indication of replacement while fertility and menopause do indicate replacement, it is not as visual as brown hair turning into silver.
