Explanation & Answer

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question! Hope your day is going well!

Let's write what we know.

Equation for perimeter is

2W+2L=P

Our Perimeter=288 ft

We know that the Length is 38 feet longer than the width

Let's call Length=L and call Width=W

Then L=38+W

And W=W

Let's substitute these variables into our perimeter equation

2W+2(38+W)=288

2W+76+2W=288

4W+76=288

4W=212

W=53ft

Thus our width is 53.

Substitute W=53 into L=38+W

L=38+53=91ft.

Thus the Length  91 ft.

Our order pair (L,W) is then (91,53)

If you wanted to check your work, simplify use the perimeter equation

91(2)+53(2)=288
