I have included links to many sources you can use to answer these questions.  If you use other sources you must cite them. Check the daily local newspapers, as there is a big meeting at the CCSD this Friday on this. Use your book also, Chapter 8 will be very helpful.

 You need to post your response first before you will see other your peers post.  25 points possible for your original post. 5 points for responding to at least one other original post. Total possible points 30 . You need to answer questions fully. A couple of sentences will be not adequate.

 The Clark County School District is currently in turmoil over offering medically accurate sex education for students K-12.

A group of parents called “Parent2Parent are against it and the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is for “medically accurate sex education”.Parent are bouncing back and forth in the middle.

 You will need to answer these questions in your response:

 A)  Before you do anything, think about how you learned about sex. Was it your parents, school, friends, TV? Do you think you got good accurate information?

  1. In the past CCSD use “Abstinence only” sex education. Why was it used and what was it a success? Why or Why not.
  2. P2P group want parents to be able to “opt into” instead of “opt out of” their child receiving sex ed in school. Which do you think is better? Why?
  3. Why do you think some parents are apprehensive about their children receiving sex ed in school. Religion, culture, fear etc?
  4. Who is SEICUS and what do they have to do with the CCSD policy.
  5. If your job was to develop a curriculum for a sex ed program for children ages 10-12, list the top 5 most important topics you would want to be included. Briefly explain why you choose each one.
