Then Beatles have x + 9 (9 more than Elvis)
Now adding these two we get x + x + 9 = 2x + 9
But we are given that this total is 29
So 2x + 9 = 29
Subtract 9 from both sides
2x + 9 -9 = 29 - 9
2x = 20
Divide both sides by 2
2x ÷ 2 = 20 ÷ 2
x = 10
Elvis has 10 number one albums
Beatles have 10 + 9 = 19 number one albums
(note that the total is 10 + 19 =29)
