Almost all psychologists agree that self-esteem is fundamental to a person's well- being: Maslow includes it in his hierarchy of needs, while Rogers thinks that most of the problems a person suffers from stems from lack of self-esteem.
Most psychologists believe that parenting and parental syles of parenting have a huge impact on the child's self-esteem Erikson calls it Trust v. Mistrust in the first stage pf hid Seven Ages of man , while Freud calls it the Oral Stage. How the parents view the child in early childhood has a profound influence on his/her self-esteem and worth.
