Discuss the 3 types of management styles scientific management, human relations management, and systems management?

The scientific management approach involves managing employees by ensuring strict supervision to them in order to ensure that they perform their duties well. According to this approach, employees are usually motivated by offering them incentives like money (Kalat, 2011).

The human relations approach on the other hand is an approach which involves creating a sense of responsibility among the employees. This also creates a sense of accomplishment among the employees and thus the employer should create such a sense of responsibility among the employees (Griffin & Moorhead, 2014).

In the case of system management approach, the management views the organization as one single unit and not departments. For instance, employees, the organizational structure and all other elements are viewed as one and the same thing in this approach (Grobler, 2006).

Which style do you believe would be the most effective to use in the criminal justice system?

The best style to use in criminal justice is the scientific management approach. Although this is a cumbersome approach, it best suits this system since the criminal justice is a system which greatly needs supervision and follow-ups. This thus, makes it the best approach or strategy to use in this case.

What are the disadvantages of the other 2 management styles?

One of the disadvantages of using the human relations approach in areas like criminal justice is that it will leave for compromise. It may also leave room for corruption as not all people will be willing to act as required.

In the case of the system management approach, looking the whole system holistically would leave room for some members in the system to relax. Some areas will thus be left out without proper supervision. However, can be a great approach if all the partakers in it are willing to co-operate.

Should all 3 components police, courts, and corrections use the same type of management style?

All these departments should not use one management style but should use the one which best suits its department. For instance, courts should use system management approach in which case they should view the whole court system as one and that the decisions of one are as important as that of the other.
