Question description

Attending and critiquing live music performances is a major part of all Music Appreciation courses. The majority of the students that take this course have never attended "classical" music performances. Simply put, there are "rules" of behavior that are you are expected to follow as an audience member. Going into unfamiliar territory can sometimes be intimidating and/or uncomfortable simply because you may not realize what is expected of you. As you are thinking about what concerts you are going to attend this semester, I also want you to be thinking about how you should act once you get there. Most of the "rules" are simply common sense but here are a some things that you may have nevr thought about. Here are some links to sites that talk about etiquette to help get you in the right mindset before you head out into the concert world. Take a few minutes and read through a couple of them before you do the assignment. (Links to an external site.) (Links to an external site.) (Links to an external site.)

1- Read through the material in the links above.

2- Post your two part contribution on the discussion board as instructed below.

Part 1- Introduce yourself to the rest of the class. Include things like what your major is, why you are taking the class, and if you have any experience attending "classical" concerts.

Part 2- I want you to share with me and your colleagues the two "rules" of etiquette that you think are the most important to follow while attending a "classical" concert.
