Question Description
10-C1. Some psychologists theorize that there is a link between personality type and body type. Body types, called somatotypes, are sorted into three general categories: ectomorphs (thin and wiry), mesomorphs (stocky and muscular), and endomorphs(on the heavy side). Further, it has been assumed that mesomorphs are typically more extraverted than either ectomorphs or endomorphs. A group of 21 children, all of whom were rated above average in mesomorphy, was selected, along with another group of 21 children who had been rated below average in mesomorphy. All the selected children were 13-year-old males. Both groups were given the EPIE test, the ” extraversion" scale taken from the Eysenck Personality Inventory. On this test, higher scores indicate a higher degree of extraversion.
The scores obtained by the mesomorphs were: 12, 13, 11, 12, 14, 10, 9, 15, 20, 4, 12, 12, 10, 14, 11, 13, 12, 13, 12, 13, 10
The scores achieved by the non-mesomorphs were: 14, 12, 10, 10, 10, 11, 7, 12, 14, 2, 11, 10, 12, 11, 10, 14, 18, 12, 11, 15, 5
