As-Is scenario: You have to monitor/consult/refresh several reports (e.g. inventory, purchase order, production order, summary sales, financial statements, etc.) to get a picture of how you are doing.

A) Assume you are responsible for changing prices for your team during the simulation. Assume also that you open four windows on your monitor including VK32 (the transaction code used to make and save price changes) and three price-relevant reports.

  • Identify the three reports that you would open in the other three windows that would be most useful in determining which prices to change.
  • Briefly describe how/why each report is useful to performing your job as price manager.
  • If you could open a fifth window to open, what report or transaction code would you display? How would this help you do your job as price manager.

B) Assume you are responsible for releasing production orders for your team during the simulation. Assume also that you open four windows on your monitor including CO41 (the transaction code used to convert planned order to production order) and three production-relevant reports.

  • Identify the three reports or transaction codes that you would open in the other three windows that would be most useful in determining which planned orders to convert.
  • Briefly describe how/why each report is useful to performing your job as production scheduler/manager.
  • If you could open a fifth window to open, what report or transaction code would you display? How would this help you do your job as production manager/scheduler?

C) Assume you are responsible for procurement for your team during the simulation. Assume also that you open four windows on your monitor including ME59N (the transaction code used to purchase requisitions to purchase orders) and three procurement-relevant reports or transaction codes.

  • Identify the three reports or transaction codes that you would open in the other three windows that would be most useful in helping you perform the job of procurement manager
  • Briefly describe how/why each report or transaction code is useful to performing your job as procurement manager.
  • If you could open a fifth window, what report or transaction code would you display? How would this help you do your job as procurement manager?

To-be scenario: In addition to monitoring what is happening in the Museli Company via multiple windows, the ERP has been configured to deliver real-time updates, alarms, alerts, reminders, error messages, and opportunity notices to you that will enable you to react and make necessary adjustments.

Describe the user interface (UI) that you would use to bring the real-time updates, etc. to your attention and the guidance/automation that would be provided to assist you in taking corrective action for each of the following.

1) An alert that would notify you when the price for one of your products is much higher or much lower than those of competitors.

  • What UI do you recommend to bring this to your attention during the simulation (what would you see)?
  • How could/should the UI be configured to automate the steps needed to make price changes?

2) An alert or notification that would inform you that a raw material shipment has been received and that a planned order could be released.

  • What UI do you recommend to bring this to your attention during the simulation (what would you see)?
  • How could/should this UI be configured to automate the steps needed to release the planned order?

3) An alert or notification that would inform you that converting purchase requisitions to purchase orders will result in additional raw material warehouse costs.

  • What UI do you recommend to bring this to your attention during the simulation (what would you see)?
  • How could/should this UI be configured to automate the steps needed to take corrective action?

4) An alert or notification that would inform you that that finished goods inventory levels were nearing or had exceeded capacity.

  • What UI do you recommend to bring this to your attention during the simulation (what would you see)?
  • How could/should this UI be configured to automate the steps needed to take corrective action?
5)  An alert or notification that would inform you that net cumulative income had reached a preset level to recommend paying down the bank loan.
  • What UI do you recommend to bring this to your attention during the simulation (what would you see)?
  • How could/should this UI be configured to automate the steps needed to pay down the loan?
6) An alert or notification that would inform you that seasonal increases in ingredient costs had reached a preset level to warrant increasing the price for the product.
  • What UI do you recommend to bring this to your attention during the simulation (what would you see)?
  • How could/should this UI be configured to automate the steps needed to increase the product's price?
