Summary and Purpose of Assessment
This is Assessment Task three of three that you must complete for this unit. Each assessment task must be satisfactory to be
deemed competent in this unit.
The purpose of this assessment task is to assess your skills in knowledge in planning a risk and sustainability program This
includes identifying and analysing any associated risks involved in a business becoming more environmentally sustainable and
then providing strategies to treat these risks.
You will work collaboratively in teams of 4-5, however, each student must submit their own work and will be individually
assessed. You need to take notes during the group work activities to evidence your collaborative approach.
Assessment Instructions
What
You will be either provided with a case study of an organisation (will be available to download from Canvas) or you can select
a business to review with instructor approval. Reading the case study provided or considering the organisation selected, you
must compile a Sustainability and Risk Handbook. You will need to collaborate in teams to outline the policies and procedures
that need to be implemented in order for the business to take a ‘greener’ approach to sustainability. This should include
identifying and analysing any associated risks involved in the business becoming more environmentally sustainable and then
providing strategies to treat these risks.
You are required to download and read the Stingray Case Study provided in Canvas. Using the information contained in the
case study (or from the organisation selected) as well as information gathered from a range of internal and external sources,
scope and develop a Sustainability and Risk Management Handbook.

2.2 Document the critical success factors, goals and objectives for the area included in the scope.
3. Sustainability Management
Read and evaluate information about the organisation, the sustainability policies created in Assessment Task 1, as well as
legislative and regulatory requirements to answer the following:
a. Provide an outline of the environmental or sustainability legislation and regulations applicable to the organisation.
b. Provide an outline of the environmental or sustainability Australian and international standards as well as codes of
practice applicable to the organisation.
c. Identify internal and external sources of information and explain how they can be used to plan and develop the
organisation’s sustainability policy.
d. Explain the process and practices for developing policies.
e. Outline organisational systems and procedures that relate to sustainability.
f.
Outline typical barriers to implementing policies and procedures in an organisation and suggest possible strategies
to address each of the barriers.
