Question Description
Hi, I had a problem understanding the concept with this problem I got wrong in class. It reads: A solid sphere and a hoop, with identical masses and radii, are simultaneously kicked up a rough inclined plane such that they have the same tangential velocity magnitude after impact and both roll without slipping. Which object will travel furthest up the inclined plane? I wrote that the solid sphere will travel the furthest up the inclined plane due to having less of a value in moment of inertia as opposed to the hoop which has most of its mass located on the outside causing it to have higher moment of inertia or resistance to angular motion. I ended up getting 0 points on the problem.
