Single member districts are evident in countries whereby individuals divide themselves into various constituencies then vote to choose a member who will represent them in the government. On the other hand, proportional representation is known to be a system engaging the whole nation whereby a party's share in votes is as many as it's seats in the legislature. Both systems are used to elect legislatures.

The different electoral systems have an obligation to represent all people,s interests despite the fact that not everyone voted for the winning member.
