Description

Describe the buffering systems that balance the pH of the intracellular and extracellular fluids and describe the compensatory mechanisms involved in the maintenance of acid-base balance.

Please be somewhat short, but detailed. Thanks!

Explanation & Answer

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

The buffering system consist of 2 molecules which changes the ph by binding H+ when ph drops and releases H + when ph rises

The bicarbonate buffer system is the main buffer of the extracellular fluid, and consists of carbonic acid and its salt, sodium bicarbonate.

For acid balance  thhe  hydrogen ions in the body influences hydrogen bonds

Because of the abundance of hydrogen bonds in the body’s functional proteins, they are strongly influenced by hydrogen ion concentration.

When the blood ph rises above 7.45 the body is in alkaline nature  and while the body isph falls below 7.35 the body is acidosis

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
